Description - Training objective: Share posing and lighting ideas and techniques for photographing people with simple or no lighting gear. People photography has become a very popular practice these days. Many take pictures of family members, friends, or strangers. In this workshop, well discuss and practice techniques that demonstrate how to pose people and handle simple lighting. These will be applicable to formal portraits, pictures of family and kids, group shots, or informal pictures of people on the street.

The discussions will cover some camera controls, artificial lighting, posing individuals and groups, getting the right expressions, working with various light conditions (e.g., mid-day sun), positioning the subject based on the light, working in low light, and understanding white balance.

The program will be educational and entertaining. Its structured for anyone who takes pictures, whether with a phone camera, a point and shoot, or a full-featured DSLR or mirrorless.

The hands-on portion of the workshop will include working with simple lighting with a single flash and the use simple modifiers (e.g., umbrella or reflector). It will also focus on working with the subject (e.g., posing, giving directions, and getting the desired expression). Members should be able to apply the training to portrait photography with natural light.

We plan to have at least one model on site for this session.
