The, approximately 150 year old Walnut Tree, sits in a remote monastery which dates back to about 931 AD, at about 4,000 feet above sea level, in the mountains of southern Armenia.
There are about four or five Monks living there year round, who are snowed-in throughout the winter with practically no way in or out until the snow melts. The church and monastery sit in the mountains at an elevation of about 4,000 feet above sea level.
